A Love Letter to Lake St. Clair

(And a Respectful Nod to Michigan’s Other Favorite Waters)

Dear Lake St. Clair,

You are the reason we start counting down to summer sometime in February.

You are the reason boat bags stay half-packed year-round.

You are the reason “just a quick evening ride” somehow turns into tomorrow.

And yes—we love other lakes in Michigan.

But here at Red Run… this one has our heart.

Lake St. Clair is where you can go to find JOY!

It’s big enough to feel exciting, but friendly enough that you’re not white-knuckling the wheel all day. It’s social without being overwhelming, lively without being exhausting, and somehow always feels like summer—even on days when summer is being a little dramatic.

This is the lake where:

  • The water calls your name the second the sun comes out—and let’s be honest, the sun is always shining somewhere on the lake.

  • You cruise with no real destination—and that’s the whole point. Or, when you want a slow ride or a bite to eat, you head north toward Algonac or take an easy cruise up the Clinton River.

  • Tie-ups happen organically, and everyone waves like you’ve known each other forever.

It’s the lake that turns strangers into dock friends and random Tuesdays into core memories.

But Let’s Give Credit Where It’s Due

Because Michigan boating wouldn’t be Michigan boating without its full supporting cast.

Stunning. Powerful. Demands respect. When she’s calm, it’s absolute magic. When she’s not, it’s character-building. This is the lake for bold sunsets, big horizons, and boaters who casually check wind speeds like it’s part of their personality.

Torch Lake is the show-off—and we love her for it. That unreal blue water? Worth the hype. Perfect for floating days, swimming, and reminding yourself that Michigan really does look like the postcards.

The peaceful classic. Clear, calm, and nostalgic. This is the lake for early mornings, slow cruising, and the kind of quiet that makes you forget your phone exists.

Charming, scenic, and effortlessly cool. This lake is for people who love a destination as much as the journey—cruising into towns, grabbing a bite, and pretending you’re in a movie.

Why Lake St. Clair Still Wins Our Hearts

All of these lakes are beautiful. All of them have their moments.

But Lake St. Clair?

Lake St. Clair feels like home.

It’s home to the Jolly Mon 2. It’s where long days in the office are made worth it by long Sundays on the swim platform. Where memories are built alongside tan lines and laugh lines.

It’s where summer starts the second the boat hits the water—even if that’s technically April.

Where routines disappear.

Where laughter carries us through the work week.

And where every day feels like vacation.

It’s not about being the fanciest or the wildest—it’s about how alive you feel the second you hit the water.

It’s our happy place.

Countdown to Summer: Officially On

(Yes, even if it’s only February.)

If you’re already dreaming about:

  • The first warm boat day

  • The smell of sunscreen mixed with lake water

  • Cold drinks, loud laughs, and sunsets that last just a little longer

Same. We’re right there with you.

Michigan summers are short. Lake days are precious. And Lake St. Clair?

She’s ready when we are.

See you on the water!
