5 Things to Do While Your Camper’s in Storage

We know how it feels.
Your camper is tucked away in storage, bundled up like a giant marshmallow in a breathable cover. The adventures pause. The memories sit quietly. Your Instagram feed suddenly shifts from “sunset at the lake” to “photo of my dog sleeping on the couch.”
But storing your camper doesn’t mean the fun stops.
Here are five things you can do while your camper is parked safely at Red Run — so your adventure spirit doesn’t go into hibernation.
1. Plan Your Next Trip
Pull out the maps, apps, and Pinterest boards.
All the “bucket list” stops.
My list is getting dangerously long. Right now, at the top:
Morganton, NC
Outer Banks
Mammoth Cave, KY
Acadia, ME
We like to dream big.
Start your own list:
“Places we’re absolutely going this year and no one can stop us.”
Browse campgrounds, overcommit to too many destinations, and definitely choose your first-night meal.
For us? Campfire nachos.
2. Reorganize Your Gear
Storage season is the perfect time to sort gear, label bins, and remove things that have mysteriously multiplied. (Nine half-empty sunscreen bottles?)
Pro tip: Create a bin labeled “Grab First.”
Fill it with the essentials: bug spray, coffee, and the charging cables you swore you wouldn’t lose this year.
Future-you will be so proud.
3. Create New Playlists
Camping playlists are a sacred art.
Ever hear a song that instantly transports you to a memory? That’s the magic.
You need:
One for the drive
One for setting up the camper
One for campfire time
And one for morning coffee + deep thoughts
Also take this opportunity to remove that one song that was fun in June and unbearable by August.
Bring the camper AND the vibes!
4. Try Out Recipes for Next Season
(Consider it campsite chef training.)
Practice camper cooking — but in your kitchen, where you have real counter space and don’t drop veggies in the gravel.
Try new one-pot meals.
Master your cast iron technique.
Attempt that breakfast sandwich that requires two hands.
When you’re done, label the recipe either:
“Camp Approved”
or
“We’re never making this again.”
Both outcomes are productive and probbably tasty .
5. Deep-Clean the Coffee Maker
Just acknowledging this is emotional.
Your camper coffee maker has been through it — early mornings, late arrivals, and some questionable water sources.
Give it a spa day.
Descale. Scrub. Rinse. Repeat.
Your first cup of the season will taste like victory.
The adventure isn’t gone.
It’s just in planning mode.
While your camper rests safely on our gravel lot — chocked, covered, and waiting — you get to do the other fun part of camping:
Dream. Plan. Prep.
And get excited all over again.
Because the second we hit that first warm weekend in Michigan…your camper is ready.
And so are you!
